The Marist Brothers of West Central Europe are committed, in each of the countries in which we live and work, to promote and implement policies that ensure the safety, wellbeing and benefit of all those involved in our work as staff, volunteers and supporters, as well as those with whom we work, including children, adults, the elderly, and disadvantaged.

The Marist Brothers were founded by St. Marcello Champagnat in Lyon, France, in 1817, for the education and Christian formation of young people, especially the least favoured. Marist Brothers and our lay associates in the five countries that comprise the Province of West Central Europe undertake our various ministries in order to promote the wellbeing of all people in our care. We are committed to policies and activities that respect their dignity, ensure their safety and protects them from harm, exploitation and abuse.

Any report or suspicion of abuse or endangerment in any of the five countries of our Province is handled with compassion, promptness and integrity in the interests of justice and reconciliation.

The Marists of West Central Europe support the Statement of the XXIInd General Chapter of the Marist Brothers. The Chapter Delegates concluded their statement as follows:

As our General Chapter comes to an end, we commit ourselves to be pro-active in ensuring that the Marist Institute at all levels conforms to the highest standards of child protection, so that all our works are child safe and child friendly.
